The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the appointment of Mr. Vikas Kumar as the Cluster General Manager of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives and Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa, Maldives.

A seasoned hospitality professional with over 25 years of experience across leading international luxury hotel brands, Vikas Kumar brings a wealth of expertise in hotel operations, guest experience, strategic leadership, and team development. In his new role, he will oversee the operations, performance, and continued growth of both the iconic Maldivian resorts, while strengthening Taj’s position as a leading luxury hospitality brand in the region.
Prior to this appointment, Kumar served as the General Manager of Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa, Coorg, one of IHCL’s premier eco-luxury destinations. Since assuming leadership of the resort in August 2023, he successfully drove operational excellence, elevated guest satisfaction, enhanced team engagement, and further strengthened the resort’s reputation as a distinguished luxury retreat. He also oversaw the amã Stays & Trails portfolio in the Coorg region.
Throughout his distinguished career, Kumar has held key leadership positions with renowned international hospitality brands, including Marriott International, where he served in multiple Food & Beverage and General Management roles. His extensive operational experience and proven ability to lead high-performing teams have consistently delivered exceptional business results and memorable guest experiences.
A strong advocate of responsible tourism and sustainable hospitality, Kumar has been instrumental in advancing IHCL’s Paathya sustainability framework. His notable initiatives include the introduction of electric vehicles, the establishment of an on-site frog sanctuary (Batracharium), and driving ambitious environmental goals, including achieving up to 90% green energy utilization.
