Angsana Velavaru has recently marked the reopening of its futsal facility, a meaningful step forward in enhancing both guest experiences and associate engagement though sport and community connection.
The ceremony was officiated by Ahmed Shafiu, President of the Dhaalu Atoll Council, alongside General Manager Ahmed Zahir, who jointly cut the ribbon to formally inaugurate the refreshed space. Set within the island’s lush surroundings, the futsal ground measures 57 metres by 38 metres, providing a dynamic and versatile space for both recreational play and structured activities. The facility offers guests and associates the opportunity to engage in sport throughout the day.
Designed as a dynamic addition to the resort’s recreational offerings, the futsal facility will host a series of upcoming workshops and expert- led collaborations, introducing to guests to engaging sporting experiences while fostering skill development and interaction. Beyond guest programming, the initiative also reflects Angsana Velavaru’s commitment to enriching associate wellbeing and encouraging a culture of teamwork and active living.
The opening celebration brought together the resort community in a vibrant and spirited atmosphere. Highlights included friendly matches between the Angsana Velavaru men’s and ladies’ teams, as well as an inter-resort match featuring the Angsana Velavaru Orange Army and Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru team, reflecting the strong camaraderie within the wider Banyan Group family.
Complementing the futsal facility is the resort’s newly enhanced watersports centre, located adjacent to the court. The centre features refreshed guest facilities, including dedicated shower and changing areas, ensuring a seamless transition between active pursuits and relaxation by the beach.
